Rep. Lewis Teams Up With Fmr. Falcons Player For Cause

Georgia Congressman John Lewis has teamed up with former Atlanta Falcons fullback Ovie Mughelli to fight climate change.

They held a public awareness event along with other speakers Saturday afternoon at Ebenezer Baptist Church in downtown Atlanta.They discussed consequences of climate change and the need for federal action. This is a cause that hits close to home for Ovie Mughelli.

“I have two little girls. My youngest was born nine weeks early and she’s more susceptible to the negative effects of the environment we have to deal with as far as the air, as far as the water,” Mughelli said.

According to the Natural Resources Defense Council, there are 15 counties in Georgia with unhealthy smog levels. Experts say there’s no statewide plan to prepare for the health impact of climate change.
