About Me

Dr. Yolanda Whyte is a pediatrician with two decades of experience serving children in diverse settings—including hospitals, clinics, rural and tribal communities, the military, child protection, and home-based care.

Concerned by the alarming rise in chronic disease and palliative care among children, Dr. Whyte expanded her practice to include environmental health, disability case management, and human rights protections. She integrates these disciplines into holistic consultations and advocacy to improve children’s health outcomes at both the individual and policy level.
As a trusted voice in public health, Dr. Whyte educates medical professionals, schools, policymakers, and communities on the health impacts of pollution and the science-backed benefits of cleaner, safer environments. Her work spans local, national, and international platforms.
In response to systemic harm against children and those who care for them, Dr. Whyte is also a medical whistleblower. She has reported illegal medical experimentation and child abuse within pediatric residency programs, continuing to champion transparency, ethics, and justice in healthcare.
Dr. Whyte began her academic journey at Howard University at age 16, graduating with honors in Biology. She received her medical degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine, and completed her Pediatrics internship at the Medical College of Virginia, followed by a Community Pediatrics residency at Morehouse School of Medicine.
Her honors include:
-
Medical Student Leadership Award
-
Outstanding Resident Teaching Award
-
EPA Children’s Environmental Health Hero Award
-
White House Champion of Change for Climate Change
Dr. Whyte is the founder of EARTH (Ethical And Respectful Treatment of Humans), a human rights organization. She serves on the board of the Food Ingredient and Health Research Institute, and as an advisory board member of CHARTER (Center for Children’s Health Assessment, Research Translation and Combating Environmental Racism).
Her past roles include:
-
Member, EPA Children’s Health Protection Advisory Committee
-
Vice Chair, National Medical Association’s Commission on Environmental Health
-
Steering Committee, Georgia Clinicians for Climate Action
-
Board Member, Physicians for Social Responsibility (FL) and Environmental Community Action
She holds memberships with the Howard University Alumni Association, University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health Alumni Association, and the NAACP. Dr. Whyte has also served on international medical missions to Haiti, Jamaica, Vietnam, Ghana, and Guyana, and received NIH research training in genetic studies.
